Nicole Ari Parker (born Nicole Ari Parker) is an American actress, who is employed in the fields of film, television and the theatre. Contractor, born from Mumbai in India, was raised in Nigeria up until she turned seven. She was already exposed to numerous travel experiences and different cultures at a very early age. After boarding school, during seven years of London the family moved to Toronto Canada where she spent the majority of her childhood and into early adulthood. Contractor achieved academic success throughout her time in Toronto in addition to her training as ballerina. She was a student at the Etobicoke School of the Arts in Toronto, a fine arts institution that focuses on theater and dance. Contractor started acting at the age of 16 and was a part of the theater for a decade after spending ten years in dance. When she completed high school, she won an all-inclusive scholarship to the University of Toronto. At the University of Toronto she completed an MA in Theatre, and was also a double major in sociology and psychology. Contractor auditioned at the prestigious Stratford Shakespeare Festival in Ontario, Canada, for Pericles. After one full year, she was awarded the leading role. After 92 performances, she received positive reviews. This play was named one of the most successful productions by Canadian reviewers. Contractor accepted the offer to join Stratford's Conservatory. The Conservatory has only 8 men as well as four females get accepted to a course of 20 weeks in classical theater. Contractor was offered a spot for the following season, and was offered the part as Hermia.
